Assaults, criminality and unwanted behavior in neighbourhoods are frightening people. More and more financial and personal means are available for companies and institutions to prevent such behaviour. Means which increase the actual safety, but especially bring the feeling of safety towards a higher level.

In the past few years people have accepted that an increase of security measures has had a negative influence on our privacy and freedom of movement. Gates, cameras and preventive body search are consequences of these measures.

It is proved that similar measures have a negative effect on society. Alienation, an enhanced feeling of unsafety and continuous investments to reach a certain level of security are the consequences.

Nowadays security developments, as mentioned above, and the public support for those measures are decreasing. People don’t want to be confronted with hard security measures anymore. More social cohesion is a good alternative to make an area safer. Collective responsibility is an important aspect in that matter. This means a huge improvement for quality of life.
